These dresses are printed with wooden blocks, pressed onto cloth by hand.
A block is carved in reverse, inked, placed, struck, lifted, moved along. The printer aligns the next impression by eye. Over a length of fabric the register drifts by a hair, the ink loads unevenly, and a motif near the selvedge sits a fraction off the one before it. None of this is corrected, because the drift is the evidence that a person did the work.
Woodblock printing — ahşap kalıp baskı — is among the oldest surface techniques used in Anatolia, and among the first to be replaced when printing moved to rollers and then to screens. The blocks themselves outlive the printers: many still in use were carved generations ago.
The dresses are cut in cotton, mostly in forms that do not need fitting — tunic lines, straight bodies, one size where possible. The brand has worked with one-size-fits-all construction since 2016 as part of reducing what it produces and what it wastes.
