Caps and hats made by hand, several of them from cloth that was already finished with.
The collection includes the eight-cornered Gakkoş cap of Elazığ — a form traced back through Harput and the Seljuk period, with each of its eight corners standing for a virtue: valour, honesty, diligence, grace, generosity, truth, humility, hospitality. Four artisans are still making it. One of them has been at it for sixty years and works from remnants.
Alongside it are contemporary shapes — bucket hats, soft caps — cut from fabric left after a collection is complete. Different century, same constraint: you make what the remaining cloth allows.
That constraint is deliberate. Aslı Filinta has produced from remaining stock since 2017 rather than ordering new fabric, which means a hat may exist in three pieces or in thirty, depending entirely on what was left over.
