Vestel, Turkey’s leading technology company, has invited Aslı Filinta to collaborate on a new furniture set for its ongoing design series, the Retro Family. The series includes household furniture such as a fridge, oven, toaster, and kettle. The designs were inspired by the motifs of Anatolia’s ancient heritage. For this collaboration, Aslı Filinta invited local women artists who practice Traditional Turkish Arts in their craftsmanship. Under Ceyda Candaş’s leadership, these women created unique and custom-made visuals. While small appliances have a water-based coating, each big appliance is hand-painted.

For Vestel, which sells its products in 163 countries, this collaboration is an exemplary cooperation that embraces promoting Turkey’s cultural heritage and empowering women. Duygu Badem Uylukçuoğlu, Head of the Marketing Department at Vestel, commented on this collaboration as such;

‘Vestel presents our country and its values to the whole world. Through our products and technology, we aim to shape the future better, and design is a crucial part of that. To deliver this value to our consumers, we have collaborated with world-famous designer Aslı Filinta, combining our unique Anatolian heritage motifs with the Retro Series white goods and small household appliances, which are among Vestel’s most popular products. This collaboration has a special place in our hearts, especially its contribution to women’s empowerment. This collaboration had gender equality as a principle, which aligned with Vestel’s goals; respecting women’s labor, increasing its presence in social and economic life, and paving the way for women to be role models for young people in society. And,  Vestel X Aslı Filinta Retro Series is the best example of this. I want to thank all the women and my colleagues who contributed to the project, and I know these products will retain their value for many years to come.’

Aslı Filinta said the following about the collaboration;

‘It is fascinating for a global technology brand like Vestel to collaborate with a brand that works by blending Anatolian tradition with fashion and holds a sustainable perspective. For our collaboration, we kept a vision of keeping Anatolian culture and art alive through traditional Turkish arts. Throughout the design process, we did not use classical methods; we added an original interpretation. The motifs we created came to life when professional art teachers applied their vast knowledge and elegant artistry to the products. I hope our Anatolian heritage will be uncovered even more as it transforms into new designs and new areas of use, carrying our traditions to the future.
